so here I sit on a Saturday afternoon typing some ramblings into the Blog site.
I find that I must first apologise for the brutal "lack of grammar attack" that shall shortly commence!
so yes was at a gig on Thursday, we were having our night yesterday and after a band rehearsal today I am suprise suprise going to a gig.
I am actually double booked tonight, however out of the two gigs I am torn between, one night has put me on the guest list.....
so no prizes to the clever bunny who guesses which night I am going to?
(arghhh I just realised I have to send out all my Christmas cards soooon, its the 12 of December arghago\sh\\d\9o\)
composes self...
so yes three gigs in a row, its a nice feeling especially as they were/are all damned good
so Thursday saw the bit of a mouthful of a name band, yes yes experiment on a bird in an air pump. who were playing at the Victoria, we arrived late so we missed all the support, but I was pleasantly blown away by the song writing talent on display, although I did find myself thinking midway through a song,"this is bloody good, if it weren't for the tom percussion it would be p.r.o.p.e.r. rock n roll", not having a standard drum kit, definitely makes it more experimental, and in terms of song writing must mean that you have to think outside of the box when it come to arrangement and dynamics
Anyway I mean the rock and roll thing as a compliment, its rare to see a band that has the capability to rock out. its something that you cannot define, nor learn, you either have it or you don't, simple as that.
Hmmm that is probably one of the more vague reviews of a band I have ever done, 'cept that it isn't a review yea, yea.
So then our night yesterday, we had the lovely Niteflights, Kingbird and Wetdog.
we had Niteflights old band down about 8 months ago, they always rock, really love their singers voice, something special, plus you always have got to love a band that has a saxophone player, right.
King bird, well I am a little biased when it comes to them, suffice to say they came up with the goods(whatever the goods are and wherever you get them from, its probably somewhere underground though.)!
We had a little re jig as the drummer from wetdog wasnt feeling very well, so they asked to go on main support instead of headline.
So I suppose I should have a little run down on wetdog first before King bird, well I really enjoyed wetdogs set, their album all but came out recently, its really good, and live they really built on it, angular and low-fi, but intentionally so.
So then kingbird on last, photos coming soon, like I said I am a little biased, more to be revealed later on regarding this!
Well then tonight, two gigs I hear you cry?
pure sheer crazyness!!!
The ever amazing Eyes In The Heat are playing at 93 ft east, but they are on at stupid oclock(otherwise known as 8.30) we are not going to finish rehearsing till like 9.30 at the earliest merrrr
so instead I am going to see the wonderful Graverobbers at Bonnie and Clydes Renegade Rendezvou at the 12 bar, and let me tell you that last sentence is not one you want to attempt if you have a stammer.
so yea gonna go all out and indulge my garage side.
Thee Graverobbers are a really nice bunch of lads, known them for a while, and to quote the guitarist from Toehammer "They are middle aged men who play garage rock like they are 15"
Anyhoos will keep you posted on the gig tonight, will probably end up swinging by 93 ft east anyway as its on the way home!
